Kersten Steven’s latest release, QUEEN RISING, showcases a fresh take on jazz by blending authenticity with collaboration, featuring some of the most respected names in the industry. The album is co-produced with 8-time Grammy-winning bassist Christian McBride, who also plays on every track and co-wrote several original songs with her. They also reimagined classics like “Someday We’ll All Be Free” and “Best Part.” The project was mixed by 10-time Grammy-winning engineer Todd Whitelock, known for working with stars like Yo-Yo Ma, Harry Connick Jr., and Wynton Marsalis. She’s earned recognition from Yale University, the NAACP, and Hal Jackson’s Talented Teens. QUEEN RISING positions her among a new wave of jazz artists pushing the genre forward with both reverence and innovation.
